Construction-Building Industry

The Construction-Building Industry  is a generic term for all of the private and public organizations involved in the building or remodeling of various types of fixed structures. The scope of the industry includes the manufacturing, distribution, and sales of building materials, the design, management, and building of projects; and the maintenance, repair, retrofit, and replacement of parts of built structures. The industry is divided into the following segments:

  • Residential: single family, multifamily, and apartments. 
  • Commercial-Industrial: Retail stores, shopping malls, office buildings, warehouses, & manufacturing.
  • Public: schools, prisons, court houses, post offices, hospitals, etc.
    Infrastructure: 
    • Transportation: Roads, bridges, highways, railroads, air ports, harbors, 
    • Power: Dams, power plants (hydro, coal, nuclear, gas, & oil), transmission lines (electrical, oil, & gas)
  • Water Treatment, transmission, flood protection, and conservation
  • Specialty: Sports arenas, golf courses, zoos, art galleries, entertainment arenas, and parks.
